Who gives to EOG?\u00a0 EOG has an ego problem.<\/p>\n<p>I give to EOG.\u00a0 And it hurts.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t give charity; I give dollars for heat.\u00a0 Not-news\u00a0 department . . . Cleveland has long cold winters.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><strong>Emily, a former tenant,<\/strong><\/span> asked if I would pay her $66.24 EOG bill, because she had moved and the gas company was still billing her for stove gas.<\/p>\n<p>I wasn&#8217;t going to pay Emily&#8217;s bill.\u00a0 I pay the apartment gas bill but typically not the tenants&#8217; individual stove bills. I volunteered to call EOG for Emily.<\/p>\n<p>EOG wouldn&#8217;t talk to me because I wasn&#8217;t Emily. \u00a0Fine.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t enjoy talking to EOG.\u00a0 \u00a0This dispute was between EOG and Emily, EOG said.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-3304\" title=\"gas-bill-stinks\" src=\"http:\/\/www.yiddishecup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/gas-bill-stinks-206x300.jpg\" alt=\"gas-bill-stinks\" width=\"206\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.yiddishecup.com\/blog\/home\/yiddis6\/public_html\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/gas-bill-stinks-206x300.jpg 206w, https:\/\/www.yiddishecup.com\/blog\/home\/yiddis6\/public_html\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/gas-bill-stinks.jpg 413w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 206px) 100vw, 206px\" \/>Or maybe the dispute was between Emily and my new tenant, Elizabeth, who was possibly using Emily&#8217;s stove gas.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><strong>I told Emily<\/strong><\/span> I would call Elizabeth.<\/p>\n<p>Elizabeth &#8212; the new tenant &#8212; said to me, &#8220;I&#8217;m in this apartment only three days a week. I use the toaster-oven and microwave.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t even use the stove!\u00a0 It&#8217;s off.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Impossible, Emily told me.\u00a0 And she added, &#8220;Somebody incurred a sixty-six dollar bill. It wasn&#8217;t me!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><strong>But you can incur<\/strong><\/span> a $66.24 gas bill just by glancing at your stove, Emily.\u00a0 There is something called a &#8220;basic monthly charge.&#8221;\u00a0 Right now that charge is $19.63.<\/p>\n<p>Emily wrote me several letters, the last one ending: &#8220;See you soon in court.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I smelled an odor of gas.<\/p>\n<p>I received a 25-page small-claims lawsuit.\u00a0 Emily wanted her gas money back, plus double her security deposit, for a total of $1,150.71.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><strong>The magistrate,<\/strong><\/span> plus Emily, Emily&#8217;s dad and I, met in a hearing room at city hall.\u00a0 The dad was OK; he parked next to me and didn&#8217;t &#8220;key&#8221; my car.<\/p>\n<p>I had a letter from EOG, explaining who had service when and in who&#8217;s name. \u00a0I won because of that letter.\u00a0 An EOG secretary\u00a0 had done me a favor.\u00a0 Her letter was not from the pre-approved letters&#8217; templates, she explained.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you, EOG. \u00a0I \u00a0pledge $___. \u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>How much should I give?\u00a0 Double <em>chai<\/em>?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3317\" title=\"eog-4\" src=\"http:\/\/www.yiddishecup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/eog-4-300x138.jpg\" alt=\"eog-4\" width=\"300\" height=\"138\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.yiddishecup.com\/blog\/home\/yiddis6\/public_html\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/eog-4-300x138.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.yiddishecup.com\/blog\/home\/yiddis6\/public_html\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/eog-4.jpg 489w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>[<em>Goys<\/em> only:\u00a0<em>Chai<\/em> (life) equals 18.\u00a0 Double <em>chai<\/em> is 36.]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">&#8212;<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Please see the post below too.\u00a0 It&#8217;s fresh.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To report an odor of gas, please call the East Ohio Gas Company (EOG).
