No, not Reform, Conservative and Orthodox. Try American, Israeli and victims of the Holocaust. Each about a third.<\/p>\n<p>The Israeli contingent is top of mind right now,<span class=\"gmail_default\"> with<\/span> Iran and its proxies want<span class=\"gmail_default\">ing<\/span> to turn Israel into dead Jews. <span class=\"gmail_default\">In<\/span> America &#8212; in Cleveland &#8212; what is a Jew to do? I called my friend Shelly Gordon, who moved to Israel after college to become a tennis pro. He played for Ohio State. He still<span class=\"gmail_default\"> gripes <\/span>about my<span class=\"gmail_default\"> childhood<\/span> private lessons; I violated the South Euclid Tennis Court Oath, which was Don\u2019t Be a Tennis Snob. Shelly<span class=\"gmail_default\">&#8216;s<\/span> strokes are bad but he\u2019s good. He never took a private lesson.<\/p>\n<p>He said, &#8220;Ninety percent of Israel is business as usual &#8212; going about our lives. I play tennis.\u201d Shelly is a sports nut. He follows the Browns, Buckeye, Cavs and Guardian<span class=\"gmail_default\">s<\/span>. In Israel he logs on at 3 a.m. to catch Cleveland sports scores. He<span class=\"gmail_default\"> once<\/span> had a yarmulke that read \u201cCleveland Cavaliers.\u201d On his<span class=\"gmail_default\"> off days<\/span>, he visits his children and grandchildren and hopes they don\u2019t get killed.<\/p>\n<p>What<span class=\"gmail_default\">&#8216;s a Cleveland Jew <\/span>to do? <span class=\"gmail_default\">Here&#8217;s an option. <\/span>Yiddishe Cup plays a benefit concert for Magen David Adom &#8212; the Israeli emergency blood and medical services operation.<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><strong>The concert <\/strong><\/span>is 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the outdoor, covered Wain Pavilion, Park Synagogue, 27500 Shaker Blvd, Pepper Pike, Ohio.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Magen David Adom is like an Israeli Red Cross. The concert is free but donations are encouraged. Money from the concert &#8212; along with gelt from <span class=\"gmail_default\">other Cleveland-area <\/span>contributors &#8212; will go toward buying an ambulance.<\/p>\n<p>Yiddishe Cup<span class=\"gmail_default\"> will play <\/span>songs from Holocaust-haunted Eastern Europe, America, <span class=\"gmail_default\">and songs from<\/span> Holocaust-avoiding Israel.<\/p>\n<p>Cleveland stands (and sits) with Israel.
