Bert Stratton is<\/strong><\/span> a pianist and singer on the Caribbean Princess<\/em> cruise ship.<\/em><\/p>\n

A man phoned and said, “Bert, this is Joe.\u00a0 I’m upstairs.”<\/p>\n

I was in the basement. \u00a0Joe was upstairs.\u00a0 Creepy.<\/p>\n

Joe was upstairs at the other Bert Stratton’s house.<\/p>\n

A friend of mine saw Bert perform.\u00a0 Bert knew me — knew of <\/em>me — he told my friend.<\/em><\/p>\n

I know Bert, sort of.\u00a0 The imposter always tops me on Google.<\/p>\n

I wouldn’t mind <\/strong><\/span>playing a cruise ship like Bert Stratton. \u00a0I know a retired rabbi — Bernard Ducoff, the father of Yiddishe Cup’s dance leader Daniel Ducoff — who does cruise ship gigs.\u00a0 He’s the boat rabbi for a week or so. \u00a0Yiddishe Cup could do a Caribbean klezmer cruise.\u00a0 There already is a Caribbean cantors cruise on Kosherica lines.\u00a0 (Not fiction.)<\/p>\n

I could not <\/em>see doing <\/em>a klezmer bus tour.\u00a0 No thanks to blowing clarinet on a moving vehicle. \u00a0Bad for the teeth.\u00a0 I was asked to play on Lolly the Trolley and said no.<\/p>\n

I could<\/em> play klezmer on an elevator.\u00a0 I did.\u00a0 Yiddishe Cup played elevator music at the opening of Stone Garden Center for Adult Living.\u00a0 We have played at Stone Garden many times since, but not in the elevator.\u00a0 We call our Stone Garden gigs “playing the Garden,” as in Madison Square Garden.<\/p>\n
