Tacky tourist<\/strong><\/span> attractions are popping up near the stellar Challah Fame. The latest shtick dreck<\/em> is the Yiddishe Cup Experience, in the old Beef Corral at Cedar Center, South Euclid, Ohio.<\/p>\n

Sombuddy pleaz open ah vindah!<\/p><\/div>\n

Don\u2019t go.\u00a0 Repeat, don’t go. Here\u2019s what you’ll “miss”:<\/p>\n

1. The first Jewish traffic light (a semaphore actually), from Kinsman Road, 1925. The semaphore has matzo, knish, and seltzer symbols instead of red, yellow and green.\u00a0 The semaphore was taken down in 1926 because the Italians couldn\u2019t tell matzo from knishes.<\/p>\n

2. Theodore Bikel and Mickey Katz<\/a> hand puppets. Who made these?\u00a0 [Josh Dolgin <\/a>of Canada.]<\/p>\n

3. The “Jewish Underground Railroad Experience.”\u00a0 A sandbox. Supposed to be the Sinai.<\/p>\n

5. A “Chagall” <\/strong><\/span>mural by Anonymous, scraped off the wall from Mira’s Cafe, Mandel JCC, Beachwood, Ohio.<\/p>\n

6. A video clip from Harley Son of David<\/em><\/a>, a movie about Jewish motorcyclists.\u00a0 Music by Yiddishe Cup.<\/p>\n

7. Klezmer-themed postage stamps from Lichtenstein and Malaysia. Musicians on the stamps include Marcel Salomon<\/a>, Adrianne Greenbaum<\/a> and Moshe Berlin<\/a>.<\/p>\n

8. A matchbook from Solomon\u2019s restaurant, Cedar Center, 1966.<\/p>\n

9. Itchy the Squirrel, an animatron who sings \u201cOyfn Pripetchik.\u201d\u00a0 (Poor fidelity, but surprisingly good Yiddish.)<\/p>\n

10. Shtetl Avenue<\/strong><\/span> — a recreation of 1920s East 105th Street, complete with midwives, klezmer bands, appetizing shops and candy stores.\u00a0\u00a0 Staffed by teen volunteers from Agnon School.<\/p>\n
