{"id":1155,"date":"2009-12-30T07:55:23","date_gmt":"2009-12-30T11:55:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.yiddishecup.com\/blog\/?p=1155"},"modified":"2012-03-26T17:52:35","modified_gmt":"2012-03-26T21:52:35","slug":"drugged","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yiddishecup.com\/blog\/2009\/12\/30\/drugged\/","title":{"rendered":"DRUGGED"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><strong>Musicians probably get more ego <\/strong><\/span>satisfaction in one evening than most people do in a year.<\/p>\n<p>When I don&#8217;t have a weekend gig, I drift around the house like a guy in rehab.\u00a0 Where are my cigs?\u00a0 My booze?\u00a0 Where&#8217;s my heroin?\u00a0 <em>Do you want to see a movie?<\/em> No, I want to make<em> <\/em>a movie.\u00a0 <em>A concert?<\/em> Man, I&#8217;d rather be playing.<\/p>\n<p>Music is different than the more solitary arts, like writing and painting.\u00a0 When I&#8217;m on stage, the audience thinks I&#8217;ve got the answer.<\/p>\n<p>Music is laying on of hands.\u00a0 You ever try laying on of hands one-on-one, like with writing and painting?\u00a0 It&#8217;s hard.\u00a0 The best way to do laying on of hands is in large crowds, like the evangelical preachers do.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><strong>Street festivals, family parties, <\/strong><\/span>concerts . . . all mass feel-good sessions.\u00a0 Humans like hubbub. Noise is life. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ns.umich.edu\/htdocs\/releases\/story.php?id=7093\">Deaf people <\/a>like music.<\/p>\n<p>In writing and painting, you&#8217;re in the library.\u00a0 Shush.<\/p>\n<p>There is no minor league for writers and painters unless you count academia.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There is a Triple A league for musicians.\u00a0 Beyonce can&#8217;t be in every concert hall, night club and private party at once.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve subbed for Beyonce.<\/p>\n<p>Who spiked my heroin?<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #339966;\">&#8212;-<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #339966;\">2 of 2 posts for 12\/30\/09<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Musicians probably get more ego satisfaction in one evening than most people do in a year.
