[Yes, it is.]<\/p>\n<p>I sold seeds for the Lancaster Seed Co., which advertised in <em>Boys&#8217;<\/em> <em>Life<\/em>. Like the lead singer in Yiddishe Cup, Irwin Weinberger, is A.B.E.  (All But Eagle).  He tried to get an Eagle Scout badge as an adult, but the national office wouldn&#8217;t give the badge to an old guy.  I&#8217;ve seen Irwin swim. He can do it now, Headquarters!<\/p>\n<p>If the Scouts would give Irwin the badge, he would donate $1,000, minimum. (My guess.)<\/p>\n<p>Did Irwin ever get the Ner Tamid religious service medal?  [Yes.]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2977\" title=\"medals\" src=\"http:\/\/www.yiddishecup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/medals-300x273.jpg\" alt=\"medals\" width=\"300\" height=\"273\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.yiddishecup.com\/blog\/home\/yiddis6\/public_html\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/medals-300x273.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.yiddishecup.com\/blog\/home\/yiddis6\/public_html\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/medals.jpg 657w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/> The Boy Scouts<\/strong><\/span> religious service medals &#8212; like the Ner Tamid emblem &#8212; were attractive because they were real medals. For the Episcopalians and other Christians, the medals looked like British flags, with lots of crosses.  Very cool. The Ner Tamid medal was an eternal light. I miss that mag.
