I\u00a0 remembered he was a computer nut, but then I discovered, upon meeting him again, he was also a boiler nut. When he came over for dinner, he wanted to see the boiler in my basement just for fun. I have a low-pressure, two-pipe system. I said, \u201cYou should come to the West Side\u00a0to look at boilers. I\u2019ve got boilers over there as big as locomotives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bill advised me<em> not<\/em> to set back the thermostat on my house every night. With a steam boiler system, you don\u2019t save any money that way, he said. So for 21 years I\u2019d been freezing my ass off every winter for nothing? I always set back my thermostat. Repeat (from Bill): don&#8217;t set the thermostat back. I asked a commercial boiler guy the next day, and he agreed with Bill.<\/p>\n<p>This dinner meet-up with Bill was 10 years ago, and I still set my thermostat back.
