Corrigan, who owned single-family houses, used my storefront as an HQ for his rental biz. He said he wanted out of his lease with me. He had just a couple months to go. He would not pay the rent, he said. \u201cYou can sue me,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I don\u2019t care. The leak has been going on far too long.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I\u2019ve had two roofing companies look at it,\u201d I said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo what. I\u2019m not paying\u00a0 the rent. That\u2019s how we\u2019re going to part.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><strong>\u201cI hear you,<\/strong><\/span> you\u2019re not paying your rent.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSee you, buddy. You should be ashamed of yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I was ashamed.<\/p>\n<p>We fixed the leak about a week after he left.
