Trumpeter<\/strong><\/span> Kenny Terry<\/a> and his band played for tourists on Jackson Square in New Orleans.\u00a0 I went back to my hotel room, got my axe, and — heads-up, Kenny — here I come!<\/p>\n

Kenny Terry<\/strong><\/span> said, \u201cWhere you from, Kansas?\u201d\u00a0 Then he announced to the crowd: \u201cLadies and gentlemen, we have a special guest from . . . Cleveland!\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 We did a Bb blues.\u00a0 I managed, but I didn\u2019t project; I had a thin sound, at least for outdoors.\u00a0 Kenny said to me, “You got to play with some balls!\u201d\u00a0 That hurt.\u00a0 I said, \u201cI have this cheap plastic reed!\u201d<\/p>\n

The word in New Orleans is, If you’re loud, you’re loved. (Phil Frazier, Rebirth<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

Kenny Terry<\/span> called \u201cWhat a Wonderful World\u201d and \u201cOn the Sunny Side of the Street” — tunes I actually knew.\u00a0 A man danced with me.\u00a0 (I kept playing.)\u00a0 He was Dr. Love, a street performer.\u00a0 No, I don\u2019t have a video or pic of any of this.\u00a0 The photo above is from the internet.\u00a0 My wife and family were off somewhere.\u00a0 But I do have a video of me playing with a gospel singer down the street:<\/p>\n
