Oops.)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><strong>We rode<\/strong><\/span> the amphibious Ducks in The Dells, Wisconsin, and saw The House on the Rock, which Teddy described as an \u201caffront to Frank Lloyd Wright.\u201d\u00a0 Ted was good with words, even back in high school.<\/p>\n<p>We visited the mustard museum in Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin.\u00a0 Then we hit the A&amp;W, where Ted asked for a \u201cmama burger, papa burger and a rooty tooty.\u201d\u00a0 He knew that terminology from a junk-food guide.<\/p>\n<p>That trip to the Upper Midwest was one of my favorites &#8212; l0oking for A&amp;Ws and colleges with my son.<\/p>\n<p>Root beer!\u00a0 (I&#8217;m still good for a Diet Hank&#8217;s or Diet IBC at Tommy&#8217;s in Cleveland.)<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<br \/>\n<small>&#8220;Root beer,&#8221; to rhyme with &#8220;put beer.&#8221;\u00a0 That&#8217;s how we say it here.<\/small><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My son Ted was interested in ice cream.\u00a0 One summer he worked the night shift at Pierre\u2019s, loading ice cream onto trucks.\u00a0 One summer he worked at East Coast Custard on Mayfield Road, making shakes.
