Steve, the<\/strong><\/span> building manager said, \u201cI got a call last night at 3:51 a.m. \u00a0I was thinking it\u2019s a tenant with a ceiling that fell on his head, but no, the guy wanted to rent an apartment. Man, did I light him up. That fool — 3:51 a.m!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWas he drunk?” I said.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, he wasn\u2019t drunk! He said he had a dilemma. He said,\u00a0 \u2018I\u2019m in a dilemma.’\u00a0 I said, \u2018You think<\/em> so?\u00a0 You also think this is standard business hours, too, or are you trying to get a jump on the market, you idiot!’\u201d<\/p>\n

Next subject: <\/strong>\u201cHey, did<\/span><\/span> Billy give you the rent?\u201d I said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, I got the rent from your pal Billy,\u201d Steve said.\u00a0 \u201cBilly?<\/em>\u00a0 That\u2019s his legal name. What kind of person names his kid Billy.<\/em>\u201d Billy had flicked cigarette butts out his window onto parked cars below. One night he and his buddies flicked 30 butts. I wrote Billy a letter to straighten up and he did. Don’t knock Billy.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat guy — calling at 3:51 am,” Steve said.\u00a0 “No, I don\u2019t think<\/em> so!\u00a0 Are there any boundaries to human stupidity?\u201d<\/p>\n
