Real Music & Real Estate . . .

Yiddishe Cup’s bandleader, Bert Stratton, is Klezmer Guy.

He knows about the band biz and – check this out – the real estate biz, too.

You may not care about the real estate biz. Hey, you may not care about the band biz. (See you.)

This is a blog with a gamy twist. It features tenants with snakes and skunks, and musicians with smoked fish in their pockets.

Stratton has written op-eds for the Wall Street Journal, New York Times and Washington Post.

SUPPLY HOUSE BLUES

I’ve been to Dean Supply, Webb Supply, Hough Supply and Woodhill Supply. The countermen usually sit beneath Rigid Tool calendars.

woodhillOn my last trip to Woodhill Supply, I asked for 50 water-saving Niagara showerheads.  Niagaras look like fat bullet microphones, so most tenants don’t realize they’re water-savers, and that’s a good thing. If the tenants knew the showerheads were water-savers, they would don’t rip them out and put in water-gushers. Woodhill also sells wrenches, cutters and snakes.

But Woodhill only had 37 Niagaras. I was going from 2.5 GPM to 1.75 GPM. I  did the same thing  20 years ago, but back then water-saving showerheads were super thin and cheesy-looking, so tenants ripped them out.  (I pay for the water.)

I will return to Woodhill when my back order comes in. MacArthur said that.

Allow me to recommend Becker Plumbing (supply) at 492 South Green Road (1 mile north of Montecello) not for its imposing supply of anything but for the character and his 100 year old father that run the place as well as their occasional supply of truly offbeat items I haven’t found anywhere else. Just being told, via signs, that you are nothing if you’re not a plumber (in terms of service) is worth the price of admission.

You can save all the water you want….the bills will always increase. H2O dept. has to maintain the most important system we have!

Sounds like some money’s going down the drain.

Those are all cool stores but, instead, why don’t you take a trip to Loughlin’s, in Painesville – the ultimate hardware store experiences (with the vaguely possible exception of Lehman’s, in Kidron. As for purchasing all those Niagara shower heads, for that $ you might as well treat all your tenants to a vacation in Niagara Falls, Canada.
As for the environmental aspects, they don’t call you “Green Stratton” for nothin’….

And while you are at it don’t forget to visit Adler’s Hardware in Providence, since 1919. Frequented by Danny DeVito,
